Card 2.0 puts high tech gadgetry into credit cards
Dynamics Inc. have just dropped the bomb on the credit card world in the form of Card 2.0. The company has created a thin, durable and flexible computer platform designed to take the place of traditional credit cards.
Card 2.0 looks exactly like a regular credit card but adds new functionality. Two accounts can be tied to the same card allowing the cardholder to switch between the two on the fly. Added security features allow the user to hide certain numbers on the card to keep their full account number secure from prying eyes. It can also be outfitted with a keypad that requires a password for the card to become functional.
Dynamics took the People's Choice Award at this year's DEMO, the technology launch pad conference, netting them $1 million of free advertising from Computerworld, PC World, InfoWorld, and other IDG magazines. Dynamics' win is based off of a six minute presentation they gave showing the power and versatility of their Card 2.0. They beat out 70 other companies to get the top spot.
Dynamics is currently working with several banks to test the cards, but they're keeping mum on which banks they've partnered with. Jeff Mullen, CEO of Dynamics, said bank-branded cards should be launching "soon". How soon, we'll just have to wait and see, until then check out Dynamics' full presentation at DEMO.
