How to Dispute a Credit Card Charge
If you see on your credit card statement a charge that you did not authorize or the charged amount is not correct you can dispute the credit card charge. To get the charge correct is not very complicated but you may need to make a few phone calls.
First you can try calling the company that made the mistake on the charge and ask them to correct it. If that is not successful or not possible call your credit card company. You can find the customer service number on your statement and on your credit card.
Explain to the representative on the phone that there is a inaccurate charge on your statement and that you want to dispute the charge. Typically the rep will then ask you the specifics about the charge and an explanation. Some companies may ask you to fill out the form and fax it back to them with your signature on it. Some instances you may be asked to send your credit card company copies of any relevant receipts.
Once you have made the dispute to the credit card company they have 30 days to respond to the dispute. The credit card company will either get approved or denied. If your dispute gets denied ask your credit card company there is anything else you can do.
