More Credit Card offers in the mail
Have you been receiving more credit card offers in the mail lately?
481.3 million credit card offers were sent in the first quarter of 2010 which is a 29% increase compared to the first quarter of 2009 (according to Synovate Mail Monitor study).
Whether it is a sign of recovering economy or not some banks such as Capital One and HSBC has sent out twice as much credit card offers in the first three months of 2010 compared to the last three months in 2009.
If you are happy with the credit card/s you already have you can try to reduce the amount of credit card solicitations by calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT from pre-approved credit offers. The opt-out will be active for five years. The credit bureaus can sell your name and address to direct marketers. You can write to each of the credit bureaus and request that your information is not shared or given out for promotional purposes.
If you are interested in a new card, read the card offer carefully and compare the offer with other cards so you can make the best decision for you.
