What to do if somebody has used your credit card?

If you suspect or find out that somebody has used your credit card without your permission you need to contact your credit card company immediately. Do not wait. It is possible that you could be a victim of identity theft.

The same goes if you find out that somebody has acquired a credit card in your name without your knowledge.

When talking to the credit card company ask to have the card canceled and fraudulent charges removed. Then contact the three biggest credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and tell them you suspect to be a victim of identity theft. They can put a monitoring system on place to watch for fraud on your credit.
